KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has called on all stakeholders in Malaysia’s automotive sector, particularly industry players, to play an active role in driving the nation’s automotive agenda forward.
He stressed that industry participation is crucial, adding that strong collaboration between the government and private sector will determine the success of the Council of Automotive Eminent Persons (CAEP).
“In the third CAEP meeting, we discussed the long-term vision, key challenges, and various proposals for the future. This work is essential to preserve the industry’s competitiveness, strengthen our fiscal and trade standing, and, most importantly, support our climate commitments.
“With the fast-moving ASEAN market and rising focus on electric vehicles (EVs), we must act swiftly to seize opportunities in green mobility,” he said in a post on the X platform today.
Tengku Zafrul also highlighted the importance of ensuring Malaysia remains a regional hub for high-technology automotive manufacturing.
Established in June 2025 by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), CAEP is a high-level advisory council formed to provide strategic guidance for the development of Malaysia’s automotive industry, particularly in relation to the mid-term review of the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP 2020).
